Normally if the first five pages haven’t grabbed my attention I dismiss a book, but Surviving the Dead kept me hooked from beginning to end. It’s entertaining, easy to follow and under no circumstances could I stop reading it until I’d finished. The dedication of the Ford Brothers and everyone involved with the film helped me relate to them.
Surviving the Dead is a must-read for fans of The Dead, lovers of the zombie sub-genre and anyone crazy enough to consider making a film. I’ll be surprised if a film doesn’t follow based on the making of, Surviving ‘the making of’ the Dead I’d call it.

Aint It Cool
This is a horrifying zombie film that is stunningly shot in Africa.
NIGHTMARES man.
I saw this at the Drafthouse and Greg Nicotero was in the audience – and after the film – we both went over to the Ford Brothers to congratulate them on making a film that tonally belongs with DAWN OF THE DEAD, for the sheer visceral horror of zombies.
There are some zombie moments in this that are just stunning. Beautifully shot… horrifically created… Slow moving zombies done right.

Howard J Ford: is an award-winning director who began making short films aged 13 and directed his first feature film at 21 (‘Mainline Run’).
Following his second feature film, the nourish British thriller (‘Distant Shadow’), he has become a prolific commercials director having directed well over 100 commercials in the UK and abroad for many high profile clients such as Guinness, Nestle, Unilever, Procter & Gamble.
Howard also has his own production company in Brighton, UK working regularly for agency’s such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Lowe Lintas and McCann Erickson and has directed several award-winning campaigns.
None of this prepared him for what would unfold on his third feature film ’The Dead’…
